Abstract

Primera edición digital de una importante novela costarricense publicada originalmente en 1905. El historiador de la literatura costarricense Abelardo Bonilla opina: “Jenaro Cardona cierra el ciclo del primer realismo costarricense y es el novelista de mayores capacidades en el género (...) El primo es ya una novela de la ciudad. El San José de principios del siglo aparece en todos sus aspectos costumbristas y en los vicios de una sociedad que ha abandonado el patriarcalismo y se inicia en la nueva era burguesa, en que la fortuna es el factor esencial”.
