Abstract

El presente artículo es una reseña histórica del Programa de Investigación en Neurociencias(PIN) de la Universidad de Costa Rica, que fue creado en el año 1999. Actualmente,está organizado en tres áreas de investigación: Neurobiología, Neurogenética y desarrollo cognitivo. La mayoría del personal de investigación del PIN cuenta con formación en Psicología, lo cual es una particularidad a nivel latinoamericano dentro del campo de la Neurociencia. Esta reseña histórica describe el proceso de incorporación y las características de los psicólogos y las psicólogas dentro del PIN. Se exponen las temáticas de investigación desarrolladas que cuentan con la participación de estudiantes e investigadores de Psicología. El PIN, como espacio de encuentro interdisciplinario,supone fortalezas y retos, que deberán enfrentarse con el fin de continuar aportando calidad al ámbito científico nacional e internacional.

The Neuroscience Research Program from the University of Costa Rica was created in 1999. Nowadays it ́s composed by three main research areas: Neurobiology, Neurogenetics and Cognitive Development.The majority of researchers that belongs to the Program have studies in psychology, which suppose a kind of characteristics within the field of neuroscience research. This historical perspective shows us the process of incorporation and the characteristics of the psychologists within the Program. Here we expose the research topics that havebeen developed with the participation of psychology students and researchers.As an interdisciplinary meeting point, the Neuroscience Research Program has strengths and challenges that should be confronted to contribute to the scientific field national and internationally.
