En la novela La vorágine, José Eustasio Rivera propone un proyecto político de conformación de la nación colombiana que busca incorporar la región oriental de ese país, largamente olvidada por las autoridades gubernamentales. Sin embargo, este proyecto parece no incluir a todos los ciudadanos por igual. El presente estudio lleva a cabo un análisis de las representaciones explícitas de los personajes y de la estereotipación de su discurso, que pone en evidencia la propuesta ideológica del autor de la novela.
In The Vortex, José Eustasio Rivera proposes a political project for the configuration of the Colombian nation, which seeks the incorporation of the most eastern part of this country, lengthily forgotten by the government authorities. Nevertheless, this project seems not to include every citizen in the same way. This article analyzes the explicit representations of the roman characters and the stereotypical characterization of their discourse, making clear the ideology of the writer.
