Felipe Trigo (1864-1916)

Abstract

Felipe Trigo was an Extremaduran writer who achieved great editorial success between the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Although he was popular among readers, the critics of his time were divided: some attacked him harshly, while others praised his skills as a novelist. Despite several of his books being best-sellers, his figure fell into obscurity and was devalued from the late 1930s onwards. Since the late 1970s and throughout the 1980s, there has been a resurgence of interest in his work, with reissues, tributes, and the creation of the Felipe Trigo Short Novel Prize.
