Abstract

Uno de los mayores problemas con los que tiene que combatir la salud pública es la parada cardíaca. Por parada cardíaca se entiende el cese brusco, inesperado y potencialmente reversible, del latido cardíaco. Normalmente asociado a este suceso se produce una parada respiratoria. La combinación de ambos fenómenos se denomina parada cardiorrespiratoria (PCR). Por cada minuto que una persona transcurre en PCR se reducen las posibilidades de supervivencia, y se incrementa el riesgo de invalidez permanente o muerte en caso de no ser correctamente atendido. El único tratamiento efectivo es la defibrilaci ón, que consiste en una descarga eléctrica repentina de alto voltaje al paciente a través del músculo cardíaco, para que las fibras puedan reprogramarse y comience, a contraerse de manera simultánea. El defibrilador es un dispositivo electrónico capaz de provocar una defibrilación. Cualquier persona en cualquier momento puede sufrir una PCR, por lo que es importante, y así se está potenciando, el disponer de un defibrilador a tiempo. El problema radica en el elevado coste de estos dispositivos. Con esta premisa en mente, en este Trabajo Fin de Grado se pretende diseñar e implementar un defibrilador semiautom ático, de bajo coste, basado en el popular Arduino.
