Animales no humanos e interacción social

Abstract

Repercusiones del legado kantiano, en lo que respecta a la índole del compromiso moral especialmente con los animales, se observa en la adopción de deberes indirectos por parte del contractualismo de Carruthers. El sentimiento de compasión opera aquí, igual que en Kant, como condición de posibilidad para sustentar la convivencia. Este permite desarrollar sensibilidad y carácter moral y de ahí la importancia de expresarlo hacia seres sentientes en íntima relación con el ser humano. A su vez, la idea de la responsabilidad en la interacción social con los animales, propia de la ética del discurso de Habermas, revela la escasa importancia asignada a sentimientos de empatía, compasión y benevolencia. Tal actitud dependerá más de la representación de la interacción social que de la evaluación de la condición misma del animal no humano
