Nothing is more glorious, nowadays, than fining a native Colombian community that has words as the axis of their symbolic universe. The Uitotos, as a matter of fact, have it that way: they have the hierophantic ‘True word’ (palabra verdadera) (Sacred places, Ediade). Though on this occasion I will not delveon the sacred standing of words for the Uitoto people, we will indeed discuss their types, meanings and an approximation to a form of classification.
