Lo fantástico grotesco y el absurdo en los cuentos de Virgilio Piñera

Abstract

La cuentística de Virgilio Piñera presenta un mundo irracional y enajenado en el que el humor negro es el único revulsivo contra el horror y el miedo. La condición humana es examinada bajo un prisma en el que la contraposición entre lo normal y lo anormal queda anulada por el absurdo. El propio Piñera definía el plano fantástico como “la irrealidad que se desprende de la realidad”, que genera así una “dimensión más de lo real”. El universo literario del autor cubano combina la risa y el horror a partes iguales en la categoría estética de lo grotesco, a la cual se aúna lo fantástico para negar el discurso racional y la visión objetiva del mundo. En esta línea, se destaca el hecho de que los cuentos conjugan elementos extraños, enigmáticos y fantásticos con otros escatológicos, irracionales, crueles y esperpénticos para plantear los conflictos existenciales del ser humano. Este trabajo pretende revisar las nociones de extrañamiento fantástico, de lo absurdo y de lo grotesco en los cuentos de Piñera con la finalidad de ofrecer una visión de su poética y un diálogo con la crítica existente en torno a la obra del autor.
