Maltrato infantil-negligencia

Maltrato infantil-negligencia

Abstract

All statistic, national and international data indicate that negligence is the most dominant type of mistreat. Despite this fact, the quantity of investigation related to this phenomenon is far lower than the one related to other less dominant types. We can therefore say that there is an inferior representation of negligence in the investigation. Even though, there is still a lot to do in the investigation process of this social and personal problem leading to serious impacts on health, some studies have already shown that there is cognitive damage within people that have suffered negligence. This is characterized by difficulties in the executive functions. The executive functions are established within other functions. These other functions develop much earlier and are affected by the biological response to stress. With the pass of time, we come across adults who are victims of child mistreatment due to negligence. They will have their executive functions affected, without necessarily having developed any pathology or intellectual difficulty. This fact, leads them to a situation of unprotection, since their wrong performance of the executive functions is normally not safeguarded by a psychiatric diagnosis.
