Abstract

El pistachero es un cultivo leñoso que genera cada vez más interés entre los agricultores como una alternativa viable en sus explotaciones. Sin embargo, la productividad del cultivo cuando es manejado en condiciones de riego, y por ende su rentabilidad, puede ser muy diferente dependiendo de factores como: la disponibilidad de agua, la estrategia de riego utilizada, el manejo agronómico del agua y del sistema de riego, y la adaptación de este a técnicas de riego de precisión basadas en teledetección. Así, este capítulo se configura para abordar, con un enfoque práctico, qué herramientas operativas tienen agricultores y técnicos del sector para adecuar las demandas de agua a los suministros en el espacio y en el tiempo mediante la teledetección, o bien ofrecer estrategias de riego que sean adecuadas a la dotación de agua disponible en parcela a través de la herramienta RETOAGUA©. Esta visión de la agronomía del riego en un cultivo poco estudiado, principalmente en su fase juvenil y en su respuesta productiva a las dotaciones disponibles en España, supone todo un reto para el fortalecimiento del sector.
