Abstract

Ante su identidad. La ciudad hispánica en la Baja Edad Media pretende dar respuesta a algunos de los problemas planteados por los estudios de identidad en el espacio político-geográfico definido por las coronas de Aragón y Castilla, y el reino de Portugal. La obra es consecuencia de un coloquio internacional celebrado en la Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha, campus de Cuenca, en septiembre de 2009, resultado del proyecto de investigación Identidad política urbana. La construcción de modelos de identidad en las ciudades de Aragón, Castilla y Navarra (1350-1480), al que nos hemos referido más arriba. Coloquio y publicación han sido concebidos persiguiendo un doble objetivo. De un lado, la comprensión del fenómeno urbano (y de sus aspectos político-identitarios) en una dimensión «panhispánica» capaz de dar una respuesta global a los problemas planteados en estas investigaciones, respetando siempre los aspectos específicos reseñables en cada entidad política superior peninsular, pero enfatizando las líneas (intelectuales) de comunicación que pueden surgir en un espacio como el «hispánico» tan interconectado. De otro lado, la permanente comunicación con otros equipos/investigadores, persiguiéndose una más completa visión de estos problemas en el conjunto de la Península urbana y la ampliación del espectro de problemas a analizar, enfatizando el interés por un enfoque decididamente comparatista.
