La forma en que los padres socializan a sus hijos y las consecuencias que este proceso tiene tanto a corto como a largo plazo sobre el ajuste o desajuste de su descendencia es un tema de continuo estudio en la literatura especializada. Sobre los tradicionales ejes del afecto de los padres y su grado de imposición con las conductas desajustadas están surgiendo nuevos trabajos que cuestionan seriamente que el prototipo actual de padre sea el autorizativo (el que combina afecto e imposición). Si bien el entorno cultural parece variar la relación entre el estilo parental y el ajuste del hijo, la investigación actual apunta hacia el prototipo del estilo denominado indulgente, donde las conductas desajustadas del hijo se controlan mediante el razonamiento, sobre la base de una relación bidireccional caracterizada por la comunicación abierta y el diálogo./ The way in which parents raise their children, and the consequences that have this process, in the short and long term, on the adjustment or maladjustment of their offspring, is a concern of continuous study in the specialized literature. On the traditional axes of parental affection and its degree of imposition with children maladjusted behaviours, new emerging research works seriously questioning the current prototype of parenting still would be the authoritative (the one that combines affection and imposition). While the cultural environment seems to vary the relationship between parental style and child adjustment, current research points towards the prototype of the so-called indulgent style, where the child’s maladjusted behaviours are controlled through reasoning, based on a two-dimensional relationship characterised by open communication and bidirectional parent-child dialogue.
