Aprendizaje precoz de la lectura

Abstract

Reading is a fundamental and indispensable activity in 21st century society given the vast impact that written texts have in current cultural forms. Literacy is not a natural or spontaneous process; instead, it requires an educational purpose and direct interventions in the learning process to ensure that an individual becomes a competent reader. It is at this point where there are the most obvious differences about the most appropriate time to begin this learning process to achieve a high level of literacy, especially by proposing strategies and methodological principles that promote such learning. This paper analyzes the issue from different approaches and presents a longitudinal study from two academic years. During that period, students’ reading was evaluated using a set of strategies and principles. In the study, students unquestionably play the leading role in their learning process and reading permeates daily life of the child in every relational scope.
