Aquest compendi de 136 representacions cartogràfiques, principalment amb base municipal o comarcal, permet caracteritzar el territori valencià, condicionat per un conjunt de processos històrics i actuals, la manifestació habitual dels quals són els desequilibris i les diferències espacials en matèria de relleu, clima, demografia, agricultura, indústria, turisme, medi ambient, patrimoni cultural, història i organització del territori, entre altres. L’obra inclou, a més, textos i comentaris redactats per 62 experts en aquestes matèries, cosa que afavoreix la comprensió dels mapes i els dota d’un valor afegit. En definitiva, s’hi tracta de descriure i interpretar els processos que caracteritzen el territori valencià en l’actualitat des d’una perspectiva pluridisciplinària, científica i divulgativa.

This compendium of 136 cartographic representations, mostly based on municipal or county maps, allows us to characterise the Valencian territory, conditioned by a set of historical and current processes whose usual manifestation are the imbalances and spatial differences in terms of relief, climate, demography, agriculture, industry, tourism, environment, cultural heritage, history and organisation of the territory, among others. The book also includes texts and commentaries written by 62 experts in these fields to help the maps to be understood and to give them added value. In short, the aim is to describe and interpret the processes that characterise the Valencian territory today from a multidisciplinary, scientific and informative perspective.
