La naturalización de la responsabilidad moral

Authors: Moya Espí, Carlos;

La naturalización de la responsabilidad moral

Abstract

A minimum requirement of a naturalized conception of a given field of philosophical reflection is that such reflection must proceed by means of concepts accepted, or at least admissible, by the empirical sciences. In this work I will deal with a traditional object of philosophical reflection: the question of moral responsibility and the related question of freedom or free will. The work analyzes various attempts to offer naturalized conceptions of these properties, both in the field of compatibilism (Hume, Frankfurt, Wolf, Fischer/Ravizza) and of libertarian incompatibilism (Kane); the analysis’ conclusion is that none of them is free of major difficulties. The problem of offering a naturalized conception of free will and moral responsibility, consistent with the spirit of the empirical sciences, remains open.
