Las fuentes clásicas y los libros de caballerías: el caso de Feliciano de Silva

Abstract

Feliciano de Silva fue uno de los autores de libros de caballerías de más éxito en el siglo XVI. Aficionado a la lectura y atento a las corrientes literarias de su época, intenta dotar a sus obras de los elementos que más podían interesar a sus lectores. Uno de los aspectos que denotan su formación cultural es su afición hacia las referencias a la materia clásico-romana. En el presente trabajo se intenta una clasificación temática de estas menciones de la Antigüedad Clásica y se alude a las posibles fuentes literarias a través de las cuales se familiarizó Silva con el mundo romano, relacionando su labor creativa con las prácticas que seguían los estudiantes de humanidades en el Renacimiento en sus estudios de retórica. Así, a partir de su vinculación con la literatura apotegmática, se pueden dilucidar los vínculos especiales de Feliciano de Silva con la cultura humanística.
