Abstract

One of the major unresolved challenges in educational reasearch is to determine the best way to quantify the academic performance to improve teaching quality. For that porpuse, the presented research focuses on relating the educactional resources of the pupils at home with respect to their reading performance in the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA). The database comes from The Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport (2016) of Spain and is formed by a set of 32,330 samples covering the entire Spanish territory. The main purpose of this communication paper is to present a rigorous quantitative research focused on identifying analytically and argumentatively the differences between the educational resources at home and student’s reading performance Multiple linear regression analysis suggest the existence of 14 independent variables, in which where the place of study, computing access, internet connection and number of books play a major role
