Juego de medios. Formas de transmedialidad literaria

Abstract

This research explores the transmedial forms prevalent in contemporary literature, where the culturalist shift of the 1990s plays a pivotal role. This is particularly relevant for analysing what has been termed «literature of the media implosion», as coined by Eloy Fernández Porta. The emergence of new analytical categories calls for a rethinking of traditional approaches to literary study and the adoption of new methodological tools, specifically those concerning intermediality and transmediality. In line with this, the paper examines the media structure of a significant portion of contemporary literary production through authors such as Juan Francisco Ferré, Agustín Fernández Mallo, Enrique Vila-Matas, Jorge Carrión, among others. It ranges from the use of literary productions as integrated supports to the presence of transmedia logics in specific instances and processes of performativisation. The analyses conducted lead to the conclusion that the hybridisation brought about by media is shaping up as an unprecedented aesthetic in contemporary literature, indebted to the performative aspect that has been so influential in the 20th and 21st centuries.
