Abstract

For more than a decade, various studies (Chartier, 2004; Granado, Puig and Romero, 2011; Larrañaga, Yubero and Cerrillo, 2008; Molina and del Moral, 2019; Rapetti and Vélez, 2012) have reported that more than 40% of university students are occasional readers or non-readers, despite being aware of the benefits of this activity. Our objectives, as university teachers in the Infant and Primary Grades, are: a) to continue promoting reading not only from the Language and Literature Area, but also from the other areas that make up their Study Plans; b) train quality professionals in the 21st century society, so that they encourage their future students to read, as well as to have criteria to assess and select books in the classroom, to exercise their mission as mediators of reading and to be expert guides in their comprehension and interpretation processes, while generating enthusiasm for a pleasant reading. For this reason, it is urgent to articulate ways in university classrooms so that these students develop an adequate reading intertext and manage to incorporate readings into their personal and professional lives as a source of enrichment, through the implementation of more active and participatory methodologies, which include digital resources and their external projection (mass media, social networks...). An intercampus and interdisciplinary Teaching Innovation Project (PID) is presented in which the Library of the University of Granada is involved, through its different campuses (Granada, Ceuta and Melilla) and which integrates works of Spanish and universal Literature, whose background is linked not only to literary topics, but also to topics from other areas of the curriculum, such as the field of History, Mathematics and Experimental Sciences.
