Abstract

The dynamics of immigration in Europe, and around the world have changed several times. However, over the last years, due to the war in Syria, terrorism, poverty and more, millions of people are forced to abandon their homes (Spanish Commission for Refugee Aid, 2014, from now CEAR). Among them, thousands of children, after leaving their countries, end up wandering unaccompanied in the Spanish territory (Lázaro & Morroy, 2010). As it is defined by United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (from now UNICEF), the term Unaccompanied Foreign Children describes an individual, non-member of the European Union or a stateless, below 18, who enters the territory of a Member State of the European Union and is not accompanied by an adult (Fuentes, 2014). Foreign children, who are in the European territory, have a number of fundamental rights. So, the aim of this survey is to examine whether the kids enjoy or not, these rights. Method: 30 workers of shelters for unaccompanied children in Granada (Spain) took on the processing of the research by using the quantitative method. Results: According to the Articles of the Spanish Constitution, the majority of the unaccompanied children’s rights is respected at the shelters. Conclusion: The shelters offer to the children the opportunities to integrate in the community, respecting their own culture and customs.
