Nuevas masculinidades, paternidad y cuidado infantil

Abstract

Nowadays, studies and researches about masculinity and new masculinities have a role of special social interest due to the changes that are produced in recent decades culturally, economically and politically in western society. Therefore, nowadays being a man means leaving the stereotypes and behaviors traditionally imposed by gender. A new man is to be a man who recognizes men and women like equals, sharing housework, family tasks and job tasks. Therefore, the aim of this literature review is to know the current reality of masculine identity to identify and propose new ways of being and becoming men committed to gender equality, equal rights and duties of men and women. For this reason, the concept of masculinity is analyzed through different social disciplines, the types of masculinity and commitment to equality through various programs, platforms for action and campaigns proposed by associations of men, promoting new forms of being and feeling like a man, and above all, new ways to be a father.
