La función de la imagen sagrada. La escultura procesional

Abstract

Christianity has long used the visual pedagogy of the sacred image, which has been the subject of debate about the use and limits of its veneration. Based on this theoretical reflection, the focus is placed on its use by popular devotion since the Modern Age and its public contemplation in processions. Its didactic function is completed with an empathic action on the faithful that develops in the sequence of instruction, memory and identification and an experiential use of the image.
