Enric Arderiu il'excursionisme lleidatà

Abstract

Enric Arderiu (1868-1920), born in Linyola, was one of the founders of El Centre Excursionista de Lleida (Lleida’s Hiking Society) in 1906. L’Associació Excursionista Ilerdanesa (Ilerdan Hiking Association) was the first hiking organisation in Lleida, but dissolved once its founder, Josep Pleyan de Porta (1841-1891), passed away. Enric Arderiu founded El Centre Excursionista de Lleida (1904) and gave continuity to the proposal. Lleida became the second city in Catalonia with a hiking association, and Enric Arderiu gave a major boost to this initiative so as to prevent it from fading.
