Abstract

Quan neix Jaume Huguet, cap al 1414-1415. Catalunya i molt especialment Barcelona viuen encara un moment d'un cert esplendor que de cap manera hem de considerar, després de les aportacions de JAUME VICENS Vms i RERW VILAR, de vertaderament optimista, car la gran crisi catalana es comença a gestar en el segle XIV, a partir de 1333 -lo mal any primer- i la pesta de 1348, que suposa l'inici d'una davallada demografica que hauria de sumar-se a les moltes causes que potenciaren aquesta crisi, en el fons de la qual es trobava sense cap mena cie dubte el greu problema agrari dels reinences.
