This report, prepared under the Master of Visual Arts Education in the 3rd cycle and secondary levels, is related to the practice of supervised teaching in the School developed basic Anselmo de Andrade, a class of the 7th year. The purpose of this reflection arises around the development of literacy in the visual arts in education and how it affects the area of specific expertise of arts education, designated in four interdependent axes, common literacy of all artistic disciplines: ownership of the elementary language the arts, development of creativity, development of self-expression and communication and understanding of the arts in context. This problem led to the implementation of a project in the classroom, led by planning a unit of work directed to the discipline of Visual Education, the 7th grade. All work was done in around an activity of illustration, from reading the book "Stories to tell in the moonlight" writer's juvenile, José Fanha (2010). With this work, we tried to see how it is possible, through the illustration of promoting the learning inherent in the four areas set out in the National Curriculum for "Literacy in Arts," and therefore develop this project in particular, visual literacy, encouraging imagination through reading of simple activities for streamlining the creative thinking, the exploration of visual language and techniques of expression and communication
