Interioridade e diacronia em Santo Agostinho

Authors: Costa, Aline da Silva;

Interioridade e diacronia em Santo Agostinho

Abstract

The purpose of this work is to present, analyze, and valorize the diachrony of the discovery of interiority according to Saint Augustine, who goes through a long journey in his unsettling existential quest until reaching his final conception of interiority, whose pinnacle is the most intimate part of the human soul where the image of Trinity God is found. The time he devoted to delving into this discovery is somewhat intertwined with his intellectual maturation and the duration of his own life, which is why, in this investigation, works written in different periods are explored. Initially, Augustine's existential condition is highlighted, his desire for knowledge of the truth and the search for true happiness. It then delves into interiority through memory, examining the perception of inner time as a condition for understanding eternity. Finally, it describes the intensification of the movement towards interiorization in the human soul and the encounter with the image of the Trinitarian God, Eternal Truth, and rest so deeply desired by Saint Augustine.
