Abstract

This research is about the questions related to the utilization of moving image. Within the specific field of fine arts, it focuses the video installation. We pretend to circumscribe these subjects in a broader concept – the installed moving image – taking in account that this specific modality of image expanded itself beyond the practices related to the strict field of fine arts or cinema. Tendencies present in vídeo-installation, bearing in mind two factors: its relation with the world; its influence in the successive generations who have used it. In this context, the spectator remains, throughout the whole process, his body being the epicentre as well as the detonator of a spatial subjectivity, because the video installation is a special device, working time, acting like a projection in the conscience of the viewer. Therefore, image, body and space are the operative platform that permits the emancipation of the moving image, namely from the normalized relation with the viewer – the mise-on-display, the double screen and the multimedia context are then the operative modes of the installed image.
