O gesso na escultura contemporânea

Abstract

Depuis l´antiquité le plâtre est à usage multiple pour le sculpteur, l´ architecte, le médecin, et l´agriculteur. Le sculpteur fait recourt à lui au long des siècles, servant au modelage, la production des moules ou la préservation des modèles. Il est vu pendant longtemps comme un matériau secondaire. Il à la préférence pour la reproduction des sculptures — les reproductions en plâtre satisfaisant les désires de nombreux collectionneurs, musées et académies d´art. À partir du XX siècle, quand de la part des artistes il existe une recherche d´originalité rompant avec les techniques et langages artistique du passé, les artistes adoptent d´autres matériaux, d´autres langages, d´autre pratiques artistiques. C´est à ce moment que la sculpture gagne son autonomie en relation à l´architecture perdant tout caractère ornemental, la sculpture assume une identité, une méthodologie propre à elle même. Le plâtre vient à être choisi pour certains artistes, comme étant le matériau définitif de leur sculptures. À travers les travaux d´artistes contemporains qui considères le plâtre et l´utilise comme matière première pour leur oeuvres, nous somme amené à comprendre ces qualités inhérentes et les implications de sont utilisation
