Esta tese é sobre a possibilidade de descrever uma regra em estética. O argumento é desenvolvido a partir de uma leitura das Aulas sobre estética de Ludwig Wittgenstein, relacionando esta com uma leitura das Investigações Filosóficas. São também discutidas algumas passagens de outros livros de Wittgenstein, com o objectivo de clarificar o argumento inicial. No primeiro capítulo é discutido o uso que Wittgenstein faz nas Aulas sobre estética da expressão dar caras'. Esta expressão é posta em relação com o argumento da linguagem privada e com o conceito de ver a como b' tal como descritos nas Investigações Filosóficas. No segundo capítulo é discutida a expressão deterioração' usada por Wittgenstein nas Aulas sobre estética. A discussão deste conceito, tem como propósito, mostrar como podemos partilhar determinadas regularidades sem termos descrições exactas ou listagens dessas mesmas regularidades. O terceiro capítulo é dedicado ao conceito de intenção. A discussão deste conceito é limitada ao seu uso em estética e é feita a partir da expressão jogos jogados com dois motivos usada por Wittgenstein nas Aulas sobre estética. Ainda neste capítulo, é defendida a hipótese de que podemos entender intenções e de que a compreensão destas faz parte do jogo da estética'. No quarto capítulo é descrito aquilo que poderia ser uma regra em estética. Esta descrição é feita a partir de exemplos de vários tipos de regras, a fim de mostrar os aspectos relevantes no caso da estética.

This thesis is about the possibility of describing a rule in aesthetics. The argument is developed from a reading of Ludwig Wittgenstein's Lectures on Aesthetics and relating it to a reading of Philosophical Investigations. A few other passages from different books by Wittgenstein are also discussed, with the objective of clarifying the original argument. In the first chapter I discuss the expression give faces' used by Wittgenstein in the Lectures on Aesthetics. This expression is posed in relation to the private language argument and the concept of see a as b' as described in the Philosophical Investigations. In the second chapter I discuss the expression, deterioration' used by Wittgenstein in the Lectures on Aesthetics. The discussion of this concept aims at showing how we share certain regularities without having exact descriptions or lists of these regularities. The third chapter is dedicated to the concept of intention. The discussion of this concept is limited to its use in aesthetics and is built on the expression games played with two motives' used by Wittgenstein in the Lectures on Aesthetics. Also in this chapter, I defend the hypothesis that we do share intentions and the understanding of these intentions is part of the game of aesthetics.' In the fourth chapter I describe what could be a rule in aesthetics. This description is based in examples of various other types of rules, with the objective of showing relevant aspects in the case of aesthetics.
