Abstract

Logo em 2016, pouco depois de editarmos o primeiro número desta revista, pensámos em fazer um dossier sobre o ciclo comemorativo dos “descobrimentos portugueses” ocorrido em finais do século XX. Muitos de nós, hoje historiadores, tinham sido educados durante esse longo ciclo comemorativo: materiais escolares e investigação académica, programas de televisão e produções artísticas, e mesmo a própria cidade de Lisboa, foram meios comemorativos em grande medida patrocinados pelo Estado português, nomeadamente através da Comissão Nacional para a Comemoração dos Descobrimentos Portugueses (em funções desde 1986 até 2002).
