VISUALIZAÇÃO EM DISPOSITIVOS MÓVEIS

Abstract

The growing trend towards mobile devices computing tools and communication, with the emergence of models equipped with a digital camera and position and orientation sensors, provide the development of new forms of interaction and information search. The ability to determine the orientation through a compass of a device is very important in the context of location-awareness. It allows generating a more efficient way to navigate and find the desired information. This creates a new paradigm in mobile applications, as the device can act as a virtual pointer. This way users access to geo-referenced information just by pointing to the object they are observing. This document presents a system that explores new query techniques for geo-referenced information through the use of a mobile device. The query is performed taking advantage of location and orientation sensors. We developed an interface to be integrated with the application MoViSys. This interface allows searching for points of interest. It combines images captured in real time with indication of the device orientation and representation of information about points of interest located in the user’s vicinity and field of view.
