À luz da estrela: o Teatro da Natureza no Jardim da Estrela, 1911

Abstract

Abstract: This work focuses mainly on the Teatro da Natureza, a Portuguese theatre company that put up some shows at the Jardim da Estrela, in Lisbon, in the summer of 1911. It further intends to understand and analyze the reasons for the emergence of a movement of outdoor theatre, which spread throughout Europe and the United States by the end of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th. By analyzing the main focus, as well as the chief motivations and forms of expression of each of those projects, it intends to understand how that creative wave reached Portugal, how the company Teatro da Natureza was formed, who drove forward and materialized the project and how it was received by the audience, using as main sources the news published in the press and the declarations by the main participants of the project.
