Strumenti musicali nella ceramica attica

Abstract

L’articolo indaga il ruolo centrale della musica nel mondo antico attraverso l’analisi sistematica della documentazione figurativa presente sulla ceramica attica rinvenuta in Sicilia. Adottando un approccio interdisciplinare che coniuga archeologia, musicologia e storia delle religioni, lo studio esamina come le immagini vascolari permettano di ricostruire i luoghi, gli esecutori e il valore simbolico delle pratiche sonore. La ricerca analizza l'evoluzione delle raffigurazioni musicali dal VI al IV sec. a.C., evidenziando il passaggio dai soggetti mitici del Pantheon greco (Apollo, Dioniso, Hermes, Eros) alle tematiche funerarie ed escatologiche. Particolare attenzione è rivolta alla funzione degli strumenti — come la kithara, la lyra, l' aulos e il barbitos — all'interno di contesti specifici quali il sacrificio rituale, il simposio omoerotico, il komos festivo e le competizioni agonistiche. Lo studio dimostra come l'iconografia musicale non sia solo un dato descrittivo, ma un mezzo fondamentale per comprendere il sentimento religioso e le strutture sociali della cultura greca antica.
