Florescimento na adolescência

Abstract

Flourishing is a condition that allows the complete, healthy and positive development of the psychological, biological and social aspects of human beings. The aim of this research was to study/ investigation the influence of affectivity and depression in flourishing, bearing in mind the differences between sexes. A sample of 242 teenagers was collected, 35 male and 65 female, with ages between 15 and 18 years old (M = 16.61; SD = 1.04) and students from tenth to twelfth grade. The instruments used on this work were: Flourishing Scale (FS), Positive and Negative Affection Schedule (PANAS) and the Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression (CES-D). The results showed that girls have higher values of depressive mood comparing to boys; in terms of flourishing, no differences between genders were found; that there's a positive relationship between positive affectivity and flourishing; and that there's a significant influence of positive affectivity in flowering, on boys as well as girls. Supported by these facts, seems that when it comes to flourishing there are no differences between genders in terms of flourishing, on teenagers, also that flourishing is influenced by different dimensions on boys and girls.
