Persistência, bem-estar subjetivo e personalidade

Abstract

Research in positive psychology focuses on the study of motivations and human potential, and in providing better life quality. Thus, arose the interest in the persistence, defined as perseverance and passion for long-term goals, crucial for achievement in areas considered challenging. This study aims to replicate the persistence model in the portuguese population, analyzing their relationship with subjective well-being and personality. Thus, 261 participants answered a demographic questionnaire and were measured by the grit scale, satisfaction with life scale, positive and negative affect Schedule and big five inventory. It was found that the grit is positively related to the satisfaction with life, the positive affectivity, and with the dimensions of conscientiousness, agreeableness, extraversion and openness to experience, while negatively related to negative affectivity and neuroticism, suggesting the importance of different variables in the construction of grit.
