Vinculação e problemas de comportamento em adolescentes

Abstract

This investigation explored the relationship between parent and peer attachment and Internalizing and Externalizing problems in a sample of 142 teenagers, 67 boys and 75 girls, aged between 12 and 18 years of age. The attachment quality to parent and peer was mesured by Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment (IPPA) and internalizing and externalizing problems by Youth Self Report (YSR). This study revealed: sex differences in attachment to peers, with girls presenting more Trust in peers, better Comunication with peers and a stronger attachment to peers than boys; sex differences in Internalizing and Delinquent problems, where girls showed high levels than boys; age differences in attachment to parents, with the older teenagers reporting lower levels than younger teenagers. Results showed that, lower the level of attachment quality to parent and peer, higher is the level of Externalizing and Internalizing problems and the Externalizing problems tend to increase with age.
