Abstract

Desde las primeras décadas del s. I a.C., la agonía de la República romana apunta a la instauración de un régimen monárquico absoluto y legitimado por la religión. Sylla pone en funcionamiento un eficaz sistema propagandístico que se basa en la inspiración en el pueblo del miedo y de la fascinación. Aplica todos los instrumentos de manipulación ensayados por los reyes y tiranos helenísticos y aprovecha las instituciones romanas que los avalan. Hace uso de la literatura, de la retórica, del teatro, del triunfo, de las magistraturas de carácter sagrado, del control oracular, del culto a los antepasados ilustres ... Fracasó en la perpetuación de su poder, pero sentó las bases de una reforma política y religiosa que hicieron posible el Principado en Roma.-------------------------------------------------------------------Depuis les premières décades du Ier siècle a. J.C., l'agonie de la République romaine vise à l'instauration d'un régime monarchique absolu légitimé par la religion. Sylla met en fonctionnement un efficace système propangandiste qui s'appuie sur l'inspiration au peuple de la peur et de la fascination. Il emploie tous les mécanismes de manipulation essayés par les rois et les tyrans hellénistes et, en meme temps, il profite des institutions romaines qui les avalent. Il s'en servira de la littérature, la réthorique, le théâtre, le triomphe, les magistratures à caractère sacré, le contrôle des oraculesr le culte aux ancêtres illustres ... Il ne réussit pas à perpétuer son pouvoir, mais il établit les fondements d'une reforme politique et religieuse qui feront possible le Principauté à Rome.
