Alta Sensibilidade de Processamento Sensorial e variáveis Psicossociais

Abstract

It is within the project and line of research called: "High Sensitivity of Sensory Processing and Psychosocial Variables" which emerges the present dissertation, whose main scope is the High Sensitivity Sensory Processing (HSSP). The genesis and its path in the pursuit of scientificity is still short and not well founded, which aims to sequentially revise, in a temporal way, the course of the HSPS, as well as present, explore and analyze the evolution of this construct. These objectives were achieved through a global and sequential theoretical review of scientific papers on the subject. In this line, and in view of the relevance and increasing importance of this theme, the empirical objectives focus on the study of the construct and a possible association with the psychosocial variables Aggression and Anxiety as a way of predicting and essentially understand the importance of some factors when we come across a highly sensitive person. To achieve the proposed empirical objectives, a quantitative, comparative and cross-sectional study was defined and executed using a convenience sample, whose data was collected online, and divided into two main parts. First, a sociodemographic questionnaire, followed by a second part composed by the Highly Sensitive Person Scale (HSPS), Aggression Questionnaire (AQ) and Brief Symptoms Inventory (BSI) scales. With the statistical analysis of the data of the sample, constituted by 969 participants, of which 325 are men (33.5%) and 644 are women (66.5%), aged between 18 and 65 years of age. The main results obtained in the study found positive associations between ASPS and the variables Aggression and Anxiety. Subsequently, through a study of ASPS behavior as a predictor of the independent variables, it was possible to observe a significant percentage of the prediction of the variance of the variables Aggression and Anxiety. Regarding the sociodemographic variables under study, differences were found in what refers to gender, with women having higher values than men; in the variable age, statistically significant differences were not found. In general, except for the variable age, all the results found were expected, regarding the literature review that was conducted. The results obtained with this dissertation highlight the relevance of the ASPS study, due to its potential role as a predictor of the functioning in different spheres of human life.
