A Alta Sensibilidade de Processamento Sensorial e Funcionamento Sexual

Abstract

This dissertation is presented in scientific paper format. The main objective of this project is to evaluate the levels of high sensory processing and its relation with sexual functioning, estimating the mediating effect of sexual orientation. It is also intended to verify if there is a relationship between sexual functioning and high sensitivity; to investigate whether there are differences between the groups of low HSP and high HSP in sexual functioning; evidence of differences in sexual orientation and high sensitivity sexual orientation groups; to verify that levels of sexual functioning and high sensitivity are higher in highly sensitive than non-sensitive people and to assess whether levels of sexual functioning are higher in homosexual and bisexual people than in highly sensitive heterosexuals. This is a descriptive cross-sectional, correlational study with 1041 participants, of which 360 are men and 681 are women. Regarding sexual orientation 908 identify themselves as heterosexual, 73 identify themselves as homosexual, and 60 participants identify themselves as bisexual. In addition to the article, this project has a theoretical annex where all the constructs addressed are elaborated in order to deepen and consolidate the theoretical foundations of the present empirical article.
