This work aims to study a game design methodology in educational games. A game prototype was developed in order to help Portuguese 9th grade students to learn a chapter from the book - Os Lusíadas. The goal is to find fun and motivating ways to study the book using a digital game, based on the student's interests. After research on educational games and further discoveries on the relationship between learning and games, a study was made directly on the students. This later investigation helped to identify the end-user and create a game concept based on the collected data. Eventually, the game design plan was done and followed by a prototype. These were tested on students to corroborate the product's viability.
