The increasing saturation of the market, coupled with children’s constant exposure to digital advertising, has intensified the need for innovative strategies to effectively capture the attention of the young audience. In this context, sensory marketing, combined with biometric methodologies, emerges as a response to the limitations of traditional selfreport-based methods, allowing for a more rigorous and precise analysis of subconscious responses to advertising stimuli. The aim of this dissertation is to investigate the isolated impact of audiovisual, visual, and auditory sensory stimuli on children’s attention during exposure to an advertisement, using the teaser for the film “The Little Mermaid” by Walt Disney Studios as a case study. The research focused on analyzing the physiological responses of children aged 9 and 10, through the variation in the inter-beat interval (deltaRR), measured by photoplethysmography (PPG). An experimental design was adopted with 88 children, divided into three groups: audiovisual, visual, and auditory. Each group was exposed to a different version of the advertisement, while physiological responses were monitored in real time. Statistical analysis was based on non-parametric tests using IBM SPSS Statistics software, due to the violation of data normality assumptions. The results confirm that auditory stimuli, especially those of a musical nature, are more effective at capturing and maintaining children’s active attention, outperforming isolated visual stimuli, which tend to trigger predominantly automatic attention responses. It was also found that the audiovisual combination, although initially impactful, tends to lose effectiveness over time, possibly due to the limited concentration capacity characteristic of this age group. In summary, the data obtained suggest that the strategic use of musical components may constitute a particularly effective approach in advertising campaigns targeting children.
