A estética da revolta no Livro do Desassossego

Abstract

This dissertation is the result of a literary analysis of The Book of Disquiet with an existentialist interpretation in mind. In this sense, the fragments attributed to Bernardo Soares will be analyzed considering a set of ideas relating to existence and being, placing the focus of the dissertation on the subject. The existentialist analysis of the work reveals the singularity of Soares’ thought, which theorizes an idea of aesthetic abdication, leading to the overcoming of the facticity of the individual. The result of this interpretation culminates in the overcoming of the Self, resulting from the creative impetus expressed in the work. Therefore, the aim of this dissertation is to demonstrate the guiding process of the existential project expressed in The Book of Disquiet.
