Abstract

Em Vinte Horas de Liteira, Camilo Castelo Branco desenvolve uma reflexão em regime dialógico, acerca da literatura, da narrativa e de diversos aspetos da sua composição. É em viagem com o amigo António Joaquim, durante vinte horas balanceadas numa liteira, que o romancista ouve histórias e responde com comentários e com o testemunho da sua experiência literária. No trajeto que vai desde uma aldeia perdida no Marão até ao Porto, encena-se a cumplicidade existente entre o movimento da viagem e o ato de contar histórias; além disso, a loquacidade de António Joaquim e as vivências pessoais que ele convoca estimulam o debate sobre questões prementes para o ofício de escritor (p. ex., a dialética entre imaginação e prática de vida), num tempo em que começam a manifestar-se as exigências representacionais do realismo em emergência.
