Concurso de ortografia

Abstract

The current study has as objective analysing if the realization of Orthography Contests develops the orthographic students skills of a 5ht grade class of Agrupamento de Escolas Vertical de Pinhal de Frades. This study follows, methodologically, a quantitative approach, of interpretative character, based on a internship experience. It's organized in four stages, being one considered a zero stage. This pre-stage comes from regular reading habits, developed at home as in school context. The four stages are: (i) participation in Orthography Contests; (ii) correction of Orthography Contests; (iii) discussions of the results and orography rules explanations; (iv) interviews realized to class three students. Pedagogical intervention had a six week duration. The analysis of collected data allowed the most commum orthographic errors produced by the students to be determined. It also allowed to verify the Orthography Contests legimaiticy as an strategy to use in classroom context to improve student orthography competence. It allows to verify that is an strategy that consumes some useful class time but can lead to great improvement in orthographic error reduction when well aplicated.
