SOM/RGB

Authors: Loureiro, Miguel Magalhães;
Abstract

This project, SOM/RGB, begins with a central artistic question: how to elevate the symbiotic experience of a live audiovisual concert with contemporary technology? Structured as an artistic creation project, its primary objective is artistic conception culminating in the realization of a final performance, with this report serving as documentation of this creative journey. Its development is based on a dual approach: a theoretical contextualization of the history of audiovisual art and its pioneers, which establishes the conceptual framework; and a practical implementation focused on creating a unified instrument in Ableton Live and EboSuite. This practical work culminates in the SOM/RGB performance itself—a cohesive audiovisual narrative based on the album "Forever Online," designed to be a singular and immersive experience. The project concludes by presenting a performance model where the artist's gesture is the singular origin of both sound and image. It is argued that true symbiosis is achieved not by post-synchronization or reactive systems, but by a unified and embodied creative act, where technology becomes a transparent extension of the performer's artistic intention.
