Abstract

O Manuscrito F.G. 6368 da Biblioteca Nacional de Lisboa, relicário da obra de Pedro Sanches, inclui um poema em 161 hexâmetros dactílicos, com o título De Superstitionibus Abrantinorum, ou seja, «Acerca das Superstições dos Abrantinos», que mereceu aturado estudo por parte do Doutor Américo da Costa Ramalho 1 e que se revela um texto basilar para a compreensão da personalidade do nosso humanista. Este poema denota um pendor erasmista se tivermos em mente um desvelado cálamo que ousou entrar nos domínios da crítica do exercício da religião. Porém, se o texto pode atestar o perfume da Musa de Roterdão, o autor, talvez devido às suas grandes responsabilidades na Corte - «Supremi Senatus a Secretis, rege Sebastiano», de acordo com o Ms. F.G. 6368 da B.N.L. - não o publicou, nem a outros semelhantes que talvez tivesse escrito, pelo que o cálamo erasmista de Sanches se apresenta velado, em relação à sua época e em relação ao próprio perfil do humanista, no que concerne à sua simpatia para com Erasmo.
