Abstract

Health promotion in schools is a subject of increasing importance because this is a site with resources for their implementation and in childhood and youth that are established habits that will last throughout life. The nurse is a key element in its implementation and to implement relevant interventions should know the habits and characteristics of its target population. We developed a descriptive exploratory study in order to meet the health habits of 227 high school students of the Colégio Luso-Francês. The data collection method used was the questionnaire. The results revealed that: a) students have good eating habits, physical activity and oral health, b) sleep habits, although adequate to be promoted; c) a significant percentage of students have behaviors that put at risk security; d) most of the students mention consuming substances (alcohol, tobacco and drugs) although they do occasionally e) the situations of violence are rare; f) behavior regarding sexual and reproductive health, although encouraging, need intervention. It was concluded that priority areas are safety, fuel consumption and sexual and reproductive health
