The present work intends to offer a contribution to liturgy through floral art. Floral art, by means of diversified compositions, intends not only to decorate liturgical spaces, but to be via pulchritudinis and mystagogical, introducing the liturgical assembly into the celebrated mystery. This dissertation is presented in four chapters. In the first chapter, we will focus on the genesis of gardens in the first book of Sacred Scripture and the importance they had in the writings of Christian spirituality over a few centuries. We will try to mention some plants, trees and flowers present in the Bible. In the second, we will emphasize the presence of flowers in the Christian liturgy, discuss some concepts we hold significant for understanding the role of flowers in the liturgy and the emergence of AFPL, and we will address the necessit of training and the reference to flowers by the magisterium in the liturgy. The third and fourth chapters will offer some practicality to the servers of the communities to carry out a floral composition. We will emphasize the importance of the Word of God in the liturgy and in the AFPL and we will shed some light on some of the principal seasons of the liturgical year and respective floral compositions. Finally, we intend to explore some elements to consider when preparing a floral arrangement.

O presente trabalho pretende oferecer um contributo à liturgia através da arte floral. A arte floral, por meio de diversificadas composições, deseja não apenas decorar os espaços litúrgicos, mas ser via pulchritudinis e mistagógica, introduzindo a assembleia litúrgica no mistério celebrado. Esta dissertação apresenta-se em quatro capítulos. No primeiro capítulo, iremos focar-nos na génese dos jardins no primeiro livro da Sagrada Escritura e da importância que estes tiveram para os escritos da espiritualidade cristã ao longo de alguns séculos. Tentaremos mencionar ainda algumas plantas, árvores e flores presentes na Bíblia. No segundo, daremos ênfase à presença das flores na liturgia cristã, a alguns conceitos que consideramos significativos para a compreensão do papel das flores na liturgia, ao surgimento da arte floral para a liturgia (AFPL), à necessária formação dos artistas e à referência às flores por parte do magistério na liturgia. O terceiro e quarto capítulos oferecem alguma praticidade aos servidores das comunidades para a realização de uma composição floral. Sublinharemos a importância da palavra de Deus na liturgia e na AFPL e exporemos alguns dos tempos fortes do ano litúrgico e respetivas composições florais. Por último, iremos dispor de alguns elementos a considerar na preparação de um arranjo floral.
