O Banco de Dentes Humanos (BDH), é uma entidade isenta de fins lucrativos, associada a uma instituição de ensino ou outra instituição de carácter científico, cujo objetivo principal é fornecer de forma legal e regularizada dentes humanos aos estudantes da faculdade de medicina dentária durante a fase do ensino pré-clínico. O BDH também pode fornecer de dentes para qualquer investigação científica focada no avanço do conhecimento. O objetivo deste projeto foi realizar uma pesquisa a diversas faculdades de medicina dentária para avaliar a existência deste projeto ou dinâmica similar. Além disso, com base no conhecimento disponível na literatura propôs-se um projeto, com os itens necessários, para desenvolver o BDH associado à Faculdade de Medicina Dentária da Universidade Católica Portuguesa. Pode-se concluir que a associação de um BDH a instituições de ensino, trata-se de uma ideia ainda recente a nível global e embrionária na Europa.

The Human Teeth Bank (HTB) is a non-profit entity, associated to an educational institution or other scientific institution, main objective is to provide in a legal and regular way human teeth to students of the faculty of dentistry during the phase of pre-clinical education. The HTB can also provide teeth for any scientific investigation focused on advancing knowledge. The objective of this project was to carry out a survey of several dental schools to assess the existence of this project or similar dynamic. In addition, as a base not available in the literature, a project was proposed, with the items available, to develop the HTB associated with the Faculty of Dental Medicine of the Portuguese Catholic University. It can be concluded that the association of a HTB to an educational institution is still a recent idea at a global level and embryonic in Europe.
