Abstract

A cultura organizacional vem se tornando um dos temas mais investigados no campo da Sociologia das Organizações, e embora os estudos sobre o assunto tenham tido os seus conceitos aplicados no mundo empresarial, prontamente as concepções foram estendidas ao campo da educação. A presente dissertação procurou responder à pergunta de partida: Como a cultura organizacional interfere na questão da luta pelo poder e controle de uma escola de música? Dessa maneira, o nosso objetivo era analisar os aspectos da cultura que integram a cultura organizacional de uma escola de música. Os aspectos tiveram como base as concepções de cultura (integradora, diferenciadora e fragmentadora) e os elementos de cultura. Consequentemente, estabelecemos suposições para a pesquisa: A perspectiva integradora é predominante na escola; a perspectiva diferenciadora é predominante na escola e os níveis de cultura são claramente identificados na escola. A metodologia científica utilizada foi a pesquisa qualitativa, através da adoção do estudo de caso como metodologia de pesquisa. Os resultados alcançados foram que o Centro de Educação Profissional Escola de Música de Brasília CEP-EMB tem a perspectiva integradora como cultura organizacional predominante; assim sendo, a disputa pelo poder e controle da escola é minimizada. Finalmente, na análise de dados, foram identificados os níveis de cultura (artefatos, valores assumidos e pressupostos básicos).

The organizational culture has become one of the most investigated topics in the Sociology of Organizations’s field. Although studies on the subject had their concepts applied in the business world, the concepts were promptly extended to the field of education. This dissertation sought to answer the primary question: How does the organizational culture interfere in the matter of power and control struggle in a music school? Therefore our objective was to analyze the cultural aspects that integrate organizational culture in a music school. The aspects had, as a base, the cultural concepts (integrating, differentiating and fragmenting) and the cultural elements. Consequently, we make assumptions for the research: the integrating perspective is predominant in school; the differentiating perspective is predominant in school and the cultural levels are clearly identified in school. The scientific methodology used was qualitative research, through the use of case study as a research methodology. The results achieved were that the Centro de Educação Profissional Escola de Música de Brasília CEP-EMB has an integrating perspective as its predominant organizational culture; therefore, the power struggle of a school is minimized. Finally, with the analysis of data, was identified the levels of culture (artifacts, assumed values and basic assumptions).
